Crab Plover (Dromas ardeola), Ma'agan Michael, 20/Jul/1997
Whilst weak on migration, summer period is nevertheless regarded as an excelent time for finding vagrants. In July 97', during a photo session at Ma'agan Michael, Yossi Eshbol was fortunate enough to have come across two Crab Plover sprinting along the shoreline.
This was the third and last observation of this Arabian Peninsula vagrant in Israel. The previous two were at June-July 87, at Ma'agan Michael and Eilat respectively. Being a day migrant, none lingered for very long, and only a few lucky birders got to glimpse at these strange Waders.
